"We were on a bomber escort mission deep into Germany, flying at 29,000 feet, when about 25 Me109's and Fw190's passed under us. I closed in on a 190 and gotin several good strikes when my wingman came in and finished the job. We shared that plane. I then closed in on another 190 and fired a long burst from 80 yards. I saw numerous strikes and I had to slow up to prevent flying through the debris coming off the 190. the German aircraft went into a verticle dive, out of control.
