"None of us ever thought of ourselves as any type of bigshots or heros. We were basicly scared young men with a sense of duty. Every able bodied young man in the United States was contributing in some way or another. We just happened to be doing our duty in a B-29. We did sing America the Beautiful on the ride out to the aircraft before every mission, and we did not leave the ground with out a penny in our shoe. Now, I'm happy that I got to know the group photographer and he was nice enough to insist that I take some of these pictures at the end of the war. I hope people enjoy them and will use them as they wish."
